This is about enabling the large percentage of people who who would like to cycle but are too afraid of sharing roads with aggressive and careless drivers of motor vehicles. It will also allow people who cycle occasionally to use cycles more to get around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/happycyclist.grahamecooper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_2262_A-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1295\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sustrans.org.uk\/media\/5950\/bikelife19_greater-manchester_web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Sustrans Bike Life survey<\/a> 2019 showed that 77% of Greater Manchester residents think that more cycle tracks along roads physically separated from traffic and pedestrians would be useful to help them cycle more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would actually be rather selfish for those of us who are <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/happycyclist.grahamecooper.com\/?p=1206\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1206\" target=\"_blank\">fit and fast<\/a> to say to young, old and novice cycle riders: &#8220;I&#8217;m alright jack, &#8230;&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not primarily about people who cycle now; they already cycle, but they are few.
